My first time trying the sewing illustration was to draw a house. It looked like my 4 year old Claire’s house drawing. It was a simple little house with one window and a door but I was so thrilled at that moment. Then I tried a teacup and a teapot. After I got more skills, I was wondering why shouldn’t I write something with my sewing machine. First I wrote my girls name on linen scraps and made couple of name tags for their backpack.
The picture you see is quite long sentences but I really enjoyed the process. I made 3 of “calligraphy bags” and sent to my sister in Japan and to my blog friend in Virginia. I only have one left unfinished. As I see my old job again, I feel like making sewing machine calligraphy again. 🙂
(I don’t even know if I named correctly.)
I didn’t know what to write, so I used one of my stamp messages.
At that time I didn’t know about Frixion pen (heat erasable pen), so I used my Sharpie pen. How brave I was!
Cut some fabrics and add some color. With Tacky glue, attach little colored fabric pieces on the background.
Set your sewing machine as the picture. (a general purpose foot attached)
I put this cut away stabilizer on the back of the fabric and sew them together. That way fabric doesn’t move and stitching is easier.
I don’t know exactly what it’s called. As I know they are used for machine embroidery.
With sewing machine, trace letters and teacup very slowly.
In the middle of sewing, I was already regretting choosing a long message. 😉
But as soon as I finished the first one, I started another writing. I didn’t know my handwriting was this beautiful until now. *^^*
I hope my creations can inspire you today.
Thank you for visiting me. I am waiting for you girls everyday.
