How to make:

a letter to autumn-2

1.Transfer the illustration on the cotton using erasable pen.

2.Cut out fabric scraps as desired shape. If it’s hard to cut, use the printed pattern as a template. With washable glue stick or fabric glue stick, attach on the prepared cotton.

3.Set your sewing machine as the picture. attach applique foot.

4.Put quilt batting on the wrong side of the cotton. Sew all the fabric pieces using bright color thread, 1-2mm inside the fabric.

If you worry about fraying, use fusible interfacing. For me, a bit of fraying gives another charm.

5.Change dark color thread(I use Aurifil 50wt, espresso brown) and sew the outside of bright thread.

6.For the ribbon on the hat, I used Aurifil 12wt. it’s optional.

7.For the pencil, I use orange thread and fill the space using sewing machine. It’s super fast way of satin stitch. 🙂

8.Put the other cotton for back on the 7. facing right side together, sew all the way, leave a hole.

Pull right side out, with hand stitch, close the gap. Iron it.  With 2 strands of embroidery floss, hand sitch around the images.

  1. English is an extremely incredible, adaptable and expressive language and a great deal of that has to do with the way that it is an amalgamation of numerous dialects and customs. To all of a sudden chop it down to only a phonetic language would handicap its subtleties and potential outcomes for expressiveness.

  2. Wish that my hand stitching skills were good enough for this one.
